Frequently Asked Questions

Where do your walks go?

For the 2023 season, we plan to walk two routes  along the Chemin St Jacques aloso kinown as The Via Podiensis through southern France.

How challenging are the walks?

This adventure requires daily strenuous activity! We walk an average of 8 to 15 miles per day with frequent elevation gains and losses. You will need to train for this activity.

Will I be able to do this?

We firmly believe that if you set your mind on a goal, you can achieve it! The feeling of accomplishment is the best part of this adventure. We will provide you with a training plan. If you are in generally good health, and follow the training plan, you will be ready to walk by the time you get on the plane.

What do I need to bring?

This adventure is very gear-specific. We will provide you with a packing list that covers the essentials as well as extras. We will advise you on how to choose the best backpack,  footwear  and essential gear as part of our service.

What does the trip cost cover?

We cover all accommodations, ground travel, most bag transfers, and most meals after you have joined the group. Lunches are not included but are available at local markets and boulangeries. You are responsible for airfare, some selected meals, and any other incidentals.

How do I get from the airport to the first night's accommodation?

We will provide you with specific directions from the airport to the hotel we will stay in the first night of your itinerary.

What if there's an emergency?

Walk leaders are trained in emergency response and first aid. Your travel insurance should cover costs incurred in a medical emergency.

Is this a religious trip?

People complete pilgrimage routes and long-distance walks for a variety of reasons. Although this is not an inherently religious walk, these routes do have deep spiritual roots. Any religious activities are optional and not a core part of our excursions.

Can I come by myself?

You are encouraged to come as a single traveler!

What is your cancellation policy?

We request a non-refundable deposit of $500 to secure your spot. The balance is due by Feb 15.

Is airfare included in the price?

Participants must arrange and pay for  for their own transportation to the location where the group will meet on the first day of their chosen itinerary.

How many people will be on this trip?

Our trips consist of a maximum of 8 participants. Our goal is to offer a custom experience in a small group that is supportive and personal.

Why is the balance non-refundable after February 15, 2023?

Many of our lodging partners are family-run, cash-based businesses. That's what makes them desirable! Since we must pay cash up-front for many of the accommodations we use, we cannot refund the trip balance after this date. That said, if someone from our waiting list takes your spot, or you can find someone who wants your spot, we will happily refund the balance except the original $500 deposit.
