THE CAMINO PROVIDES….

Have you heard about this?

This is a common cliche that you might hear on the Camino.

This is something pilgrims often say to express gratitude about small (and big) miracles of provision.

Whether its being handed an ice-cold bottle of water when you’re beyond really thirsty, someone offering you a heaping of pasta when your hungry or someone holding up a favorite item that you realized that you dropped on the trail 10 miles back, I wholeheartedly believe it to be true. (In fact all three of these examples have happened to me - plus many more).

I like to think of the Camino providing as God’s provision- whatever you call it, magic happens when you live a life with a spirit of expectancy.

Last night The Camino really provided…..

My husband Jim and I we’re in London. There was a Michelin-starred Spanish restaurant that we both really wanted to try. But they were fully booked and they said no walk-ins.

This place tends to book out weeks in advance.

We boldly got a taxi and drove over there. We walked in and I said to the host at the front door “please do you have any tables? We really would love to eat here” - in Spanish by the way.🤣 He said “no. probably not tonight but I might be able to get you in tomorrow night.“

And I said “oh we’re only here for one night. I’m leaving to Porto to go to the Camino❤️ de Santiago tomorrow.“

At that moment, he looked me in the eyes …got a little emotional and said “I want to do the Camino❤️ so bad. I’m from Spain. Don’t get me wrong. I love London, but I feel like I’ve lost my soul since living here.”

My eyes teared up. I looked him in the eye, and I said “the Camino❤️‘s waiting for you when it’s time to go your heart will know.“

He then looked at me and gave me the biggest hug imaginable and we both were crying.

Then he said, “I think I can get you a table. We might have a cancellation at the counter.”

You guys 😍…the counter is one of the most requested tables in London. It’s a Michelin rated restaurant and when you sit at the counter, it’s like being at the theater for foodies.

After dinner as Jim and I were walking out the door, he gave me another hug, gave me his phone number and asked me to send pictures from the Camino❤️.

This isn’t something I could’ve ever had planned.

The Camino❤️ provided. There’s a soul connection that you have with others who are called to walk the Camino❤️.

It’s priceless.
